Thats interesting....
I am in the process of getting a new reel to use with my little ABU bait casting rod ( hollow glass with forward facing rings, it has two tops) I fancy a closed face reel. Will get an ABU.
The rod seems well sort after now, nice corck handle and sticky up kind of trigger on it, not sure of the correct name.
Mr Crabtree takes Peter bait casting for Pike in the book, compleate with gaff! I will try my hand this winter with it.
No doubt Bernard would have done this kind of fishing as well on his travels... He fished were ever he went, what a good o'l boy.
Thanks you sir.

The close season is an important and interesting time for the Angler who set out to catch big fish. It is a timely opportunity for him to make new tackle or renovate old. There are no end of jobs to do, apart from those horrible things called Gardens!
