It's arrived....

Post by Aitch »

My Modern Arms 'Test' has turned up.... and it's in really good condition other than a loose ferrule, and a slight droop in the top two sections (probably the ferrule) which the seller mentioned, the decal is immaculate and the rod itself is in a useable condition as it is.... it even has the wooden ferrule stoppers, it's a lovely rod, but It's going off to Steve Boncey for a full rebuild next week to bring it back to it's former glory.... all in all a bargain for £38 :Thumb:

Excellent news, Sir.

Well done Sir! :Thumb:

I paid near double that for my Test, but it had been restored!

Now all you need is some re-inforced bank sticks to take the weight

It looks like a black and silver whipping although the varnish has discoulored it possibly so I may be wrong... I take it the thread is Jasper...? anyway I have spoken to Steve and he's going to cast an eye over it before setting to work... on really close inspection, there is a slight set to the tip, but it'd do a blind man good to spot it... otherwise it's fine...!

I found that although the whippings look like black/yellow jasper they are, in fact, black and white twist with discoloured varnish over them.

There are some pictures of the rod I bebuilt in this thread :-

I used Prowrap Tiger Thread Black and White from guidesnblanks :-
