Suredale Restoration

Well chaps, the Suredale restoration is nearing completion and I have started to think about how I shall use it. It seems to be quite a steely rod with a "tippy" action and a strong butt section (whole cane). I have seen these rods advertised for sale as suitable for barbel but with a fairly fine tip I wonder if this is expecting too much?
I'm guessing roach, tench, chub, and lines up to max 6lb?
I would be interested to hear from members who have experience of this rod and could offer their advice.
I have shortened the rod from 12ft to 11ft to improve its balance, it wasn't bad at 12ft but now it's greatly improved and very nice in the hand.
So, a few more coats of varnish and it's ready for its first outing in my stewardship.
I will of course report on it's first venture to the river in due course!
