A question for the lure anglers

Post by Bobby Marlene »

Gentlemen, when you fish neutral buoyancy lures like Husky Jerk or Walk-The-Dog, do you use swivels? I can imagine that these affect the action of the lure negatively due to the weight. Thanks for sharing your opinion/experience. Good night, Bobby

You can get away with a loop at the lure end of your wire trace by crimping it but a swivel is essential at the other end. It will effect the lure action to some degree but that's unavoidable. Of course, some of these lures were designed for bass where a wire trace isn't necessary so the lures would act a little better.

I use a special wire clip snap link designed for lure fishing.

Me too.... I have a braided mainline, with a fine wire trace connected with a crimped on swivel and a tiny swivel snaplink for attaching the lure... seems to work okay

For drop shotting I use the braided mainline with a fluorocarbon leader with a small snap link swivel (I only do without the wire trace if there are no Pike in the water and I always debarb my hooks)
Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home

I use them for ultra-lite small lures and catch plenty so they should work well with bigger lures. I use them without a swivel and attach fine wire trace direct to the snap link!
