Magical Waters by Paul Witcher - Film Review
Filmed and produced by Paul Witcher, written by Jason Inskip, narrated by Mark Floyer and staring the late artist and author John Searl make for over two hours of some of the most lovely and relaxing fishing you could want to see. And it all takes place on some of Britain's most beautiful waters. Now and again the camera leaves the surface of the water and the anglers to discover it's hidden depths below, a great insight and some stunning footage.
It took four years to produce the film and once you start watching it you realise why. The music fits the film just perfect, moving in parts and very atmospheric. All of the seasons are covered from summer barbel fishing on the Hampshire Avon at the opening part of the film going right the way through to winter grayling fishing when everywhere is covered in snow, I could almost feel the snow crunching underneath my own feet as they walked along the bank heading for their own chosen swims.
There are some lovely scenes of John fishing with his friends along the way and in some beautiful surroundings. This is a very enjoyable film to watch, it makes you want to pick up your rods and head for the waterside yourself. It has been a very long time that I have enjoyed watching a fishing film, highly recommended chaps. A film that you will want to watch many times over, especially on these long dark cold nights.

* Sight fishing for Atlantic salmon, with angling legend, Dave Steuart, including rare film of a fish taking the bait underwater.

* Attempting to fool big bristling perch on a small river.
* A frozen moment in time with the Ice Age fish, the grayling.
