"The Perfect Gem"

Does anyone know anything about "The Perfect Gem", 8ft 3 piece fly rod by Foster Bros., Ashbourne, please? I can't find it in any Foster's catalogue which I have seen.

No line weight is marked on the rod but it works well with a #5.

Try to contact Stephen Wooley ... a member of this forum ... and a Gentleman who started to learn his rod making trade as a 'saturday boy' at Foster Brothers in Ashbourne.

Thank you. I of course know of Stephen Wooley but I was a bit shy to contact him directly. I will send him a message.

I think I have found it in a 1930 approx. Foster's catalogue.

The grip shape is slightly different from the illustration but almost everything else on my rod fits the image and the description, including "Challenge Brand" on the bag label. The ferrules on my rod also appear a slightly later type of suction joint.
