Gudgeon Rod?

Post by Tinca »

Image
Good Afternoon Gents,
This rod and reel came into my possession today free gratius and I was wondering if anyone new of their approximate age? The rod appears to have been refurbished at some time and a donkey top fitted (replacement for a broken original?) however it all looks usable and at 10 and a half feet may make a good outfit to bash out a gudgeon or two.
Many thanks
Tinca

I'd date it at late 60s to early 70s. I can remember similar rods in tackle shop windows around that time. The tip section will have been original and, for some strange reason, as 14 year olds my friends and I valued such rods above the hollow glass rods that were about at the time. This soon changed and by the age of 16 I was coveting an ABU Mk 5.
