C.Farlow Holdfast spinning rod

Post by LuckyLuca »

Newly arrived at Lucky towers a C Farlow Holdfast 7'2" spinning rod.
Whilst browsing the "Ending soonest" on a certain auction site, I noted this with 2 minutes to go was bidless and at a very modest price. A quick scan of the photos showed it worth a punt.
Seconds later the rod was mine and payment made.
Ordinarily I'd have let this pass. But having robbed the tip off my self built spinning rod for a project the timing was perfect.
I unwrapped the parcel today and am thoroughly delighted with my purchase.
A light wand in terrific condition for the price of a pizza. Lucky by name...........

If anyone could help with more information or perhaps details from a catalogue I'd be grateful The label on the bag shows a post code of SW1 so dates to before they changed to the longer format codes, whenever that was.

I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.

It certainly looks to be a quality rod, Farlow's didn't sell inferior tackle, well done!

Hi Steve,
the only spinning rods similar in my catalogue are these. I think my catalogue is from 1930ish so yours might be a slightly later version Midget.
Right click on the photo and select, open in new window, for a larger view.

Thanks for that Wal. It ties in nicely with a 1938 catalogue entry that was sent to me by Harry H last night.
