Makers name found. Can anyone Help?

Post by Tonytoned »

Hello Everyone

This is related to an earlier post: "An odd Cane rod".
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=28154

I have found a makers name albeit slightly worn on the slide fitting for the reel. The bottom signature says "Cheltenham" the top one I can just make out "__den" (I think!)
Any help would be very appreciated thank you for your time.

I have inverted the image to see if it helps with the signature.

Could well be James Ogden in Cheltenham. Another forum member here mentioned this some time ago and I believe Bumble's wooden handled rod looks very similar.

This rod came up on Zeppy.io at one time but is no longer listed. It is titled as '3 piece fly fishing rod - maker J Ogden, Cheltenham'
