Hello, all.
I was just trashing an old computer 3.5" hard drive and salvaging a few parts from it and it occurred to me that the central spindle group is a beautifully engineered thing that may be very useful to an adventurous someone who builds their own centrepin fishing reels and old hard drives are easy enough to come by -

Hi Search on youtube and you will find some good examples. I came across them a while ago while looking for something else!

Darn - I might have known someone had got there before me. ha ,i'm not the only one to strip old hard drive's ,those alloy spacers make good rod handle trim bands sometimes .
I've gotten some very powerfull magnets from hard drives too that comes in very handy when loking for small parts in carpets .
