Hard Drive Spindles For Centrepins ?

Post by Stingray »

Hello, all.

I was just trashing an old computer 3.5" hard drive and salvaging a few parts from it and it occurred to me that the central spindle group is a beautifully engineered thing that may be very useful to an adventurous someone who builds their own centrepin fishing reels and old hard drives are easy enough to come by -

Hi Search on youtube and you will find some good examples. I came across them a while ago while looking for something else!

Darn - I might have known someone had got there before me. The one I've just watched on Youtube looks pretty good - nice to know my idea (though not invention it seems) works.

I've gotten some very powerfull magnets from hard drives too that comes in very handy when loking for small parts in carpets .
I try to be funny... but sometimes I merely look it! Steve
