Allcocks aerialite advice please

Post by AverageAngler »

Hi
I have picked up 2 of these for my own use and perhaps for my 2 boys to use when they are a little older. They have arrived in the post and look like they will do a good job when cleaned, polished and lubed.

One problem though, I can't get the spools off. Both have a type of wing nut holding on the spool and neither will budge.

Am I trying to undo the right bit? If so I guess patience and penetrating oil is in order.

Cheers

Yes you are.... mine was a bit stiff at first, give it a spray with some WD40 and leave it for a day then try again... it worked on mine... I have two of them, one Red and one Black.. the red one is well past it's best and retired now, but the black one is still a "Runner" as they say... great reels for stalking, okay'ish for a bit of trotting with a heavy float. :Hat:

Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home

Cheers for the info. I too have a reddish brown version as well as a black version.
