I've been using GT85 as my preferred reel cleaner . Would any of you more knowledgeable chaps know of a reason not to or indeed have a suggestion for a better alternative?
Kind regards
John

That's just perfect John.
As far as I know, GT85 does not harm anything on a reel and cleans up metal a treat!
I have been using it for a long time now and thoroughly recommend it.

...smells rather nice also..!

Thank you for such a definitive response WM+ , I appreciate you sharing your knowledge :Hat:

I am a little fascinated by the way GT85 cuts through grease , I'm really happy with It as a cleaner but I was concerned over any potential issues , your post has set my mind at ease .
I sometimes have to remind myself it's not an air freshener and open a window .
Kind regards
John

This'll scare you:

I suppose one should at least, open the window. And maybe put that fag out......

I was pretty sure this was originally Castrol's answer to WD40, but I see they now own it!

Interesting that they suggest a water jet spray in the event of fire....as it's not water soluble that surprises me greatly! I'd expect pyrotechnics.

A bush fire. Nasty:

Thanks Nobby
No more useing it as air freshener .
I also use it to lubricate blades on my hedge trimmer so will be mindful of the fire risk .
