perfect 3 5/8 wide spool

Post by Torridge Cane »

l have just picked up a hardy perfect 3 5/8"
nothing unusual about that you all cry ,works fine etc , etc ,
the mystery is , it came with a spare spool , thing is the spare is too wide !!! fits in the frame winds on 2 turns that all
this reel is 50's - 60's ,
my question is.....
Did Hardy make a 3 5/8" Taupo type reel , l can only find 3 7/8" Taupo ,or something else
would be nice to know .
l have gone back to the chap it came from , he can't help .
must be someone who knows out there

If it fits the frame and turns it might be deformed?

As the reels were all cast, then finished individually by the reel maker, I suspect the spare spool was not made to fit your reel and is a later addition?
