Hi guys I've just brought the above reel and it is making a tick Tock sound aswell as the ratchet sound.
It seems to be coming from the bail mechanism hitting a small pin I've spoken to the seller and he says it has to brush the pin for the bail to close after casting and engaging the bail.
Should it be constantly hitting the pin when the bail arm is closed when reeling in?
It seems quite noisy to me
Kind regards
Terry

In short Terry, no it shouldn't make any sound at all.
It is more than likely, someone has undone the screw on which the bail release pivots. The screw has a lock nut inside the base plate of the rotor and I usually find these loose inside, this allows the pivot screw to come loose which causes the bail trip to sit loosely and allows it to rub onto the pin causing the extra noise.
It's a full strip down to rectify so quite time consuming and can be expensive.
Of course it could be something completely different and without seeing the reel it's really quite impossible to be certain what is causing the noise..

The bail arm stops against a pear-shaped bail spring cover and these get dented. Beating the dent back out from within will often stop the ticking sound.
