Hi,I had an Altex in the 60s ,as far as I can remember the fibre washer was made from very thin tufnel sheet ,as far as the ratchet on the spool there was a brass wheel inside the back of the spool.Perhaps hardys discontinue these points to save costs .Reelmaker

I'm not so sure tufnol would work, personally I would go to Halfords and buy a pack of mixed fibre washers and have a play.
Of course it would be useful if someone with a Altex could measure there's for you. :Hat:
