i used to own a semi-full metal merlin
Image
(i stripped it to bare metal ,replaced the trianglar handles and painted the back black as mine had the dimpled back)

i did also own a full metal speedia

but i've sold both on and don't currently have a stripped reel ,but there is another full metal speedia in the works ,just as soon as i find the compulsion to do it .

Chavender, Sir ... like the finish on the Merlin plastic hub !!! That had crossed my mind.

i was thinking of getting a brass centre made then found some brass/gold effect paint so i painted it to see how it would look (plus i think i might of been a little bored that day) a brass centre looks really good on the merlin's

i did intend to de-chrome the centre piece on the speedia too as they're brass and again tooks really good ,but i forgot or just never got about it

i did also have half a idea to do "engine turnings" on the merlin front flange ,mostly to hide the water stains in the metal .
