1950's Intrepid Deluxe

I found an intrepid while in the UK at a boot sale. Will have to look carefully at it . Paid five quid the man iun his 50,s said it had been his fathers reel . I boughyt it as was like the first reel I ever had in the 60,s!!

An Intrepid Supreme along with an Intrepid Elite were in an auction lot today - I was bidding up to my £10 limit but somebody reached it before I did. Should have gone on really as the lot also included a Dowling centre pin which was not in good nick but is seems is quite collectible. The 2 Intrepids were not boxed but looked and felt in good condition although obviously used

The trouble with Intrepids is that there are an awful lot of dogs out there and so buying unseen is a risk. I have a box full of broken Intrepids.........

Dowlings are fairly rare, but not particularly valuable or collectable as so little is known about the makers....about all we know is that they were made 'somewhere' in Sudbury, although they described themselves as in nearby Harrow.
