Intrepid Elite spares?

Post by Nobby »

Intrepid Elite spares...anyone know where I might find some please?

I have one with a broken spring and consequently it has no anti-reverse. The spring in question presses a multi-toothed pawl around that sits on a sprung arm, conntrolled by the anti reverse lever.

It's this version here:

It's otherwise a sound reel with shallow spare spool as well and I thought I might put it on the table at Romsey for a couple of quid as I know these reels have their fans.

I've got a "scrapper" knocking about somewhere Nobby - I'll dig it out and send to you if the spring in question is still OK.

Sorry Nobby, Sir. I only have one 'Elite' and no spares. I have a box of 'Envoy' spares but the spring is different.

Thanks gentleman. A spring from a scrapper would be ideal Jim....don't want to break up a sound reel just for a spring.

Glad you told me about the Envoy AC, I thought they'd be the same!

So did I, Sir ... that's why I looked.

Phew - found it! I'd forgotten what a disaster area Elites are on the inside - but the pair of springs from the anti-reverse seem OK: not sure which one you need so I'll send both.

PM replied to, Thank-you Jim. Let's hope I can work out how to fit it......way outside my Mitchell comfort-zone here!

Nobby, I'm not sure if it's any use to you but where I live we have an old fashioned iron mongers. One with a cellar downstairs, I went there last week for a spring and was given an old wooden box to look through. This box contained all manner of springs and before I knew it I'd found what I was looking for. I wouldn't mind betting that some of the springs they sell would come in handy for reel repairs.

If ever you need one and can show me a picture with measurements, I'd gladly go there again for a look and can send them on to you.

God never did make a more calm, quiet, innocent recreation than angling.
