I have about 5 spare spools for 601m and 602
The 601's are a wee bit smaller but my 'incomplete' 844 is smaller still. Funny how little is out there on relatively recent reels (1990's) they must have been very poor sellers?

I think your correct the smaller abu closed face reels did not sell well.
The line bedding in on the small spools prevented a smooth trotting of the float.

I wandered into Cash Converters a few weeks ago. (Some kind soul took my arm and gently guided me in the right direction)
They sell spools of line for 99p.
I spotted something familiar. 99p for an Abu 506 plastic match spool. Result.
