I think you are correct Alex, if only I'd read the post regarding the Bijou here, viewtopic.php?p=348811I would have seen a brown reel. I think I'd be correct in saying that a lot of British reels made pre 1960 or so failed to have a primer before paint was applied, hence the paint comes away so quickly. This particular model would be easy to repaint, but like yourself, I also like the metal finish as per some other TJH reels from the same era.
I know some members of this forum have done some superb paint jobs on various models and when I get a duplicate 'Korka" I intend on doing a repaint as a trial. Perhaps I should have a go on the Triple Check first?

Perhaps a tin of Humbrol enamel paint would do the job?
