Has anyone got any information as to the history of Foster bros father David.I have got one of his reels but can't find anything about him apart from that he wrote The Scientific Angler amongst others.

His reels were almost certainly purchased from other manufacturers and sold through their business at Ashbourne.

If you post a picture of the reel it might be possible to identify it.

I have added some pics to my original post.It looks like an Allcock reel to me.I have just bought your book Stefan.....very interesting.

This reel would almost certainly have been bought in from one of the wholesalers at the time someone like Heatons.

Many years ago I wrote an article on Fosters of Ashbourne I will try and dig it out.

From memory they did have a unique reel that they sold but I doubt if they would have manufactured it themselves.
