MG,I had the same problem, it was solved two ways, on the off chance I visited a local scrap yard who had a bucket full of brass fittings, bolts/nuts which helped. On the advise of a friend I visited a local engineering company, who gave me a few brass bolts and nuts which they keep in stock for emergencies.....

I know this thread is a bit out of date, but just to say I have used this firm for taps and die's they are a good price.

At these prices it's worth most people keeping a tap and die by them if you ever need to clean a thread up or get someone to make up something for you, as in the case of the Blacksmith didn't have the right size tap.

PLEASE NOTE Its actually 3/8 BSF or british standard fine
