Thanks for the comments chaps.

It’s coming together nicely now.
Mark, I have plenty of jobs in the house but priorities come first.

Dan, the workshop if you can call it that is only about 10ft by 8ft but I’ll have to make do. Apparently turning half of the garage into a utility room was a priority. Just wish I could keep the place clean!
I have laid aside business, and gone a'fishing.

I'm well impressed! I'd like to have a go myself but don't have access to the machinery... ...oh wait! The DT department at work....
Thanks for sharing, where do I get the ash?

Did you varnish or apply some other protection on the ash?

In my opinion the tennis racket type finish to the net is much
better than just threading the net over the ash loop.

You have certainly done a great job.

I sympathise entirely. I've had to give over half, yes half, of one of my sheds for utility purposes. The injustices us poor chaps have to put up with...

At the moment it’s just in its raw form. Ideally I'd like to soak it in whatever J S Sharps used on their rods as they last forever! I have no idea what an impregnation solution looks like although I can guess at some of your answers!
However back to the matter at hand. Ash is fairly tough stuff and has a fairly tight grain so will last a while as it is. The finish I’ll go for is going to be boiled linseed oil rubbed in with a soft rag. As the wood is still fairly green it should take a fair bit of oil. It will also help to bring out the beauty in the wood and take it down a few shades to match the handle.
