Ambidex no 4 bail arm won't click back over now

I've just serviced an ambidex no 4 but the bail arm won't click back over as it should on the wind .

Sometimes the threaded end of the bail arms gets stripped so that the bail arm pushes through and stops the bail arm closing.I solved this by putting a layer of that fine white tape plumbers use round the thread and screwing it back making sure it's clear of the plastic housing.Apologies for the lack of technical language!
