MARCO Nymph handle.

Post by LuckyLuca »

Having recieved a MARCO Nymph and found it too stiff and heavy to fish with, I decided to attempt to convert it into a landing net handle.
I removed the hugely heavy brass reel seat and refitted the butt cap which reduced the wieght a fair bit, off with the rings as well. I used an adaptor for keep nets to provide a conection for the net.

Just gave it a quick coat of varnish as spending hours on whipping only to find it unsuitable just didnt make sense.

Sat by the river and it made me complete.

Reckon you should have your signature on that too, could be sought after in years to come!!!

Good work fella. What sort of net are you planning to attach to the end?

Is it heavy or quite light?

Still pretty heavy to be honest. I would hate to think what the test curve of the original rod would have been! Net wise I don't yet have a traditional net so a modern scoop for now.

Looks good LL.
You maybe able to find an old net head on ebay and use the frame but replace the net.
Looking forward to hear about the first fish landed with it. :thumb:

Sure you will be able to find a net head, keep your eyes open on Ebay as they do come up form time to time.

Good job LL! :thumb:

I would say that was a sea fishing rod LL. Odd to call such a beast 'nymph' though!

That's what I thought. Bought it hoping it was mislabeled and actually a heavy salmon rod which could become a carp stalker. Weighed a ton with the brass reel fitting. A little more manageable now though!

Looks a bit "Stiff" to me.....perhaps there was an "O" missing from the end?
