It was the spreader block that proved impossible for me, though I never did try steaming ash either, for that matter, but I knew it could be done.

Interestingly, both Andy's and Paul's spreaders are pretty much the same, bar the number of holes to mount to the wood.

Just in the process of putting a more fish-friendly mesh on to mine. This time I am using the Abu Garcia Specialist collapsible net, simply because I trust it and it's so easy to separate the netting from the frame....you just pop of the two name plates and drift out the two pins to dismantle the whole shebang and slide off the netting.

They come in 60, 70 and 80cm sizes.

Jason White makes a nice range of nets and handles - I dribbled over the options in his workshop not long back. It might be worth considering a bamboo hoop as opposed to ash one (he does both). The bamboo option is much more flexible, whilst retaining strength, and can also be finished with a flamed effect. They look stunning. He has various hoop formers in various shapes and sizes, or can create a bespoke design to suit.
He also makes all his own brass spreader blocks and handle fittings - again fitted to each style requested.

I've just also posted a message in the rod makers section regarding his rod refurbishment skills too

No only a mobile number let me know if you want it.
