Removing agate liner

Post by Benj1dog » Sun Dec 10, 2017 5:41 pm

hi , i have an agate tip ring that i would like to re-use. The metalwork looks to be nickel silver, but the agate is misaligned. I would like to remove the agate so that i can refit correctly. Can anyone advise a method for doing this without craking the agate.

Thanks

is it glued if so heat it up till glue melts ,dry heat or wet but not flame ,even if its not glued the metal will expand and ease its grip allowing you too manipulate it

..as Chavender says "not flame"... I tried that and the whole ring collapsed as the solder melted

Broke the agate , found it had a groove around the edge that the metal was set into so was never coming out whole. Doh.
