Reel seat repair

Post by Jeremy Croxall » Sun Dec 10, 2017 5:48 pm

Looking for advice chaps, I need to repair a reel seat, please see following pics: ImageImage
The ring at the cork end of the reel seat that accommodates the reel foot was broken. I have removed it (pinned and glued on) and need to replace it prior to fitting a new cork handle. Can anyone advise where I may obtain one please? The diameter of the alloy reel seat is 17.5 mm.
Otherwise I could replace the entire reel seat with something similar, again any ideas where to obtain one please.
Thanks for looking!

guides n blanks sells preformed cork rings with a hoods shape in it ,you'll need to find a corresponding metal hood (or make one ,to line it) too fit inside the recess.

you could find a reel band that's go a hood ,whose I\D fits the metal sleeve and arildyte it on the get a couple of oversized cork rings and file the inner to cover the hood and blend to the existing cork grip .

doesn't have too be metal ,you could fit a john Roberts plastic hooded band too the sleeve and cover with cork rings hollowed out too fit over the hooded part .

Jeremy, I have several fly rod butt ends and odd bits of reel seats. It may be a few days before I can check through them, but I'll have a rummage and see if anything there will suit you :Hat:

Don't count your chickens yet Jeremy, there might not be anything suitable!
