Japanese Kishu Herazao
Being at a loose end, waiting for the glorious 16th, I was trawling Youtube. I stumbled across this which may interest some. I was absolutely stunned by the skill. Even the rod rests and nets are amazing.

Brilliant...so much more of a relationship with the rod than a 20minute drive to Angling Direct

Those films were utterly mesmerising... I loved them... as a lover of whip fishing I'd give my eye teeth for one of those rods/whips...
Many thanks for sharing them
(I may have to revisit my whip fishing at some point... wonder how much one would cost...????)

Just one more cast love, and I'll be on me way home

Based on 6 months to make, I'm guessing a lottery win would be needed. I found this.

Wonderful to watch the skill and dedication to detail. No doubt if the demand became large enough, the Chinese will find a way of making them a lot cheaper.

Seems the dedication to detail, tradition and craftsmanship is mostly bestowed on items that will be used and stay in the country.

Watching the way the built cane tip section is constructed is very interesting indeed - it is built "inside out" when compared to our method of building cane. The tip is a quad construction with power fiber faces on the inside and the pith on the outside. The pith is then planed away leaving the power fibers on the inside and tapering to the tip.

In that case I think I'll pass... but they are VERY nice... I have a cane pole that I can use the top couple of sections of and pretend its nigh on £1500 quids worth.. of Japanese craftsmanship...MGs wrote: ↑Tue Jun 12, 2018 7:53 pmBased on 6 months to make, I'm guessing a lottery win would be needed. There is scarcely anything in the world someone could not make a little worse and sell a little more cheaply...Wallys-Cast wrote: ↑Tue Jun 12, 2018 8:23 pmNo doubt if the demand became large enough, the Chinese will find a way of making them a lot cheaper.
