When I need to restore a fiberglass rod every thing is ok until I get to removing the brass ferrell's.
If I use heat it ruins the fiberglass blank.
So I either destroy the Ferrell or the blank. Can any body tell me where I'm going wrong.

Re: Help me please
can be tricky job ,use a flame and you'll cremate the fibres ,use a too hot heat gun and the blank will wilt (go soft and droopy) plus you run the risk of the brass popping (they go with a pop) as it splits apart.even hot (boiling) water and towel trick .doesn't always work and has a dash (or is that a splash) of danger too it.
try holding it boiling water and then with a towel try genteelly twisting it back and forth and as soon as you get movement pull .the trick is too feel for the moment the glue begins too melt ,by giving the ferrule a little twist motion .then when you feel movement apply a pulling as you twist /rock it .

even with the hot water the end might go soft a little as the resin in the fibres becomes viscous ,so be quick .a cup/bowl of cold water too quench the end into will reset the resin solid again.its a balancing act .
