Wooden reel

Post by Mrooke »

Hi guys, does anyone know if this is a makers mark? Think it's only a cheap name but unsure

Edit: scrap that... I am no longer able to upload photos, lol

Looks like the number 2. Probably to keep track of matched parts.

I just found this post, so here are some pictures of my oldest reel, It is a tiny 2 I/4" reel with a strap back and riveted foot, with dainty ivory or bone handles. Inside you can just about make out the number 3 in pencil which matched the two parts, simple but effective. These reels are not valuable, but becoming harder to find in this condition. Probably dates from the 1880/90 period at a guess. Image Image Image Image Image

Very nice reel you have there, looks like the same wood type was used on both reels? Is there any way of finding out who made them? Think mine measures just over 3 and a half inches... The reel I mean.
