Just loved seeing the starting sequence of the first episode after all the anticipation & also Bernard Venables what a legend!
To enjoy our sport as it should be enjoyed, our surroundings must be beautiful, for your true angler enjoys nature as much as he enjoys fishing. "BB"

Midwinter madness for me, very atmospheric and spoke to me on such a base level you'd have thought Hugh had somehow filmed my dreams. In fact i sent him a letter once stating that very fact.

Favourite bit is the reading of the poem in Midwinter madness "buds fir gloved with frost...etc" that accompanied by Jennie Musketts music.... Wow... Powerful stuff....

For me it has to be Bob James with that stunning catch of big roach.

Or Chris Yates catching that Redmire 20 off the top with "that" rod
I have laid aside business, and gone a'fishing.

:Thumb: Wow time is flying by, only seems like the other day. Great series.
Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’

Very difficult to choose, its all so brilliant, but the Redmire Legends and Monster Myths are the episodes I watch most frequently.

Never saw it when it was first shown as I wasn't fishing at all through most of the 1990's. I think I first watched it about 2003, immediately bought the DVD set and have watched many many times since.
Watched Childhood Dreams just a week ago , and now I know it was first aired on my birthday, I will watch another episode tonight - and raise a glass of red wine to all involved in producing it.
There is no peace on earth like the peace of fishing in the early mornings

So many classic scenes to choose from but I think the roach had the biggest effect on me, the big catch from the Avon and the scraper three from err, was it the Kennet? Oh, and the pike were something else except there's a rumour that the sacked fish came from someone else :Scared: I don't care of it did, the series was a milestone in angling and TV, will it ever be equalled?

Has to be Bernard and his "swagger" of perch for me........

The opening of Autumn Glory when Chris Yates caught a perch from the bankside. It struck a chord in my soul.
