what do you use to weigh your fish?

what do you use to weigh your fish?

Post by JimmyBobkin »

Although I rarely weigh fish these days, there is always the possibility of catching that elusive PB. What do the members here use?

Digital luggage scales from ebay. Very accurate and they look like expensive fishing scales for a fraction of the price!

Tubular brass Salter's scales.
I have them to 8lb, 20lb and 40lb (40lb? :Hahaha: )

Three sets, 4lb brass tubular, 50lb electronic scales & 60lb Reuben Heaton. I need to get 100/200lb scales for cats when abroad.

What is more important is fish welfare and what they are weighed in? Plastic bag, nylon weigh sling, carp sling etc. No good taking a small sling when fishing for monsters!

Little Samson scales and a micro mesh sling I was recommended on this very forum.

+1 :Thumb: I have the 8lb version in 1oz increments. Very accurate when tested against modern digital ones, despite their age.

I've used these, and there are good, except when the battery gets cold and wet and the screen goes blank. I don't weigh a great many fish, these days, but when I do I use Reuben Heatons - dial scales.

Avon scales . I use a plastic carrier bag if i happen to catch any decent sized silvers, and a nash weigh sling for larger quarry ie carp. tench. barbel. chub etc.

Not a fish was visible that first time I visited Beechmere; an utter
stillness brooded over the place and I felt the strange and sinister atmosphere which, so the story goes,
has been the cause of several suicides.’
