I use drennan super specilists, size 12-6 and kamasan hook to nylon in 14-18. I am experimenting with some stronger hooks though, for targeting larger carp this season. But I have forgotten the name of them!

I also really like Middy Meat Carp hooks to nylon. A wonderful product, but may get me lynched if I explain the details of them too much on here. :Chuckle: :Hide:

I tend to use Kamasan 911s or Animals up to a 10 . Then use drennans S/Specialists or Korums S3s for larger hook sizes which is very occurrence for me to use . Also I keep them in their pkts in storage or in a magnetic hook box thingymejig when in use as I am paranoid with hooks getting blunt rattling around

I use a whole variety because over the years that's what I've bought. But I do prefer Drennen but not their barbel hooks because their points turn and blunt very quickly and they can straighten with bigger barbel!

First stop for any item of tackle...hooks included, is Drennan, but I do occasionally want something in a thinner wire for canny fish.
Peculiarly, whenever I find such a hook that I like it soon gets discontinued. I am the kiss of death for fishing hooks. Tubertini blacks, Korum S3 seamless, Preston PR27......the list goes on.

You're a lot tidyer than me Mark with your items of tackle. I really must do that with my hooks instead of just throwing them into my tackle bag or box.

Dave put me onto my now favourite hooks with the Guru QM1's, fabulous hold to them.....many thanks Dave :Thumb:

Drennan, then if something finer is called for, I`ll use the older Drennan carbon chub, spade end, better presentation...

Very wise, I refuse to buy boxes of hooks even when saving money. It's the worst thing for them rattling around together escalating the damage to the points all the time.

Drennan super specialist for me if I can't find any Kamasan B598's :fishing1:

I've used Drennan successfully in the past but the last couple of seasons I've been using the Korum Specimen and Specialist in sizes from 6 to 16, rarely had a hook pull and easily removed on the bank four packs of 10 for a fiver delivered so I never re-use the same hook even if it feels sharp when I tackle down.

For large hooks (size 10 to 4) I use a very small amount of Mini Baby bell wax on the hook point and keep them together in a box like Mark, more than enough protection to stop any hook point damage. :Thumb:
