Traditional style canvas / leather rod holdall self-made
Hey chaps,
as the first holdall I built was a little too short for my rods due to shrinking of the fabric, I decided to give another go. This time I chose green heavy duty canvas and made it a good portion longer. I will decide in the next session how long it will be in the end. Outside of the holdall I added two large pockets with flaps and added a fine leather rim. The first one is double expandable to hold a brolly. The second one is expandable only one side and I think I will divide it into two at half length. One can hold a landing net and the other one will hold bank sticks. I also added an inner pocket with a zip for license documents and on top there are two "plug pockets" for hooks, hook lengths ect.
There is a pocket for a full length wooden stick to straighten the holdall behind the shoulder strap, which I made out of fine leather.
Now I have to find a zipper long enough to enable me to open the holdall 2/3. And I have to put some leather pad at the bottom...
I know the inside seams look awful. Putting that many parts together is a demanding task. At least I got them inside ;)
To be continued...

Hey chaps,
I finished my holdall yesterday. Here are some pictures.
Let me know what you think about it. I hope it was worth the effort, lost nerves, cut fingertips, endless numbers of tangles with my sewing machine and, of course, my angry wife bugged by all the cloth flying around...
I wonder how long it will take until she asks me if I could make her a handbag out of leather....."Well, let me think a second about it....NO..."

Very nice OM!
Definitely worth the effort!
Definitely worth the effort!
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.
