Might be an idea to 'load' it with some lead flashing ?
Quite a displacement ina tube that size, so forcing it down could get quite tiring? :)

One only needs to push it a few inches to a foot to get a good view so not much displacement to worry about. Rather than using lead flashing I was thinking of making a hinged clamp for it, to attach it to the side of the punt.

Handy tool though, amazing how many lost items run up around boat landings etc.

I have a very powerful sea magnet for salvaging stuff from moorings. It's amazing what one can find. Even found a circular saw blade a few years ago. Haven't been swimming in the Thames since.
