This is the Winfield version of the Bite Detector
Two different sizes that push into the holder which is held in place with an elastic band

Just a note, you can get plastic coated Terry or Tool clips, bit gentler on the rod finish.

Correct, they fitted on the rod above the handle. I remember trying one but I soon went back to the traditional wine cork with a hairpin init, a length of string went to the rod rest to retain it and pull it off on striking or picking up the rod.
