I can just get my hand inside it and it fits onto my belt with a canvas loop. I can get everything I need for an evenings fly fishing inside it and have room left for a few toffees.

Now that I like a lot....minimal spring to mind!

I hope I didn't give the impression that I made it, I found it on eBay. I couldn't find anything 'traditional' that was new. It's army surplus :-)

I have used Stroft for two seasons and have found it consistent in it's knot strength and equally good for dry and nymphs. I only use 4lb bs as anything less is asking for trouble on the river. One spool costs about £5 and lasts me all season. I used to use Orvis Fluorocarbon but found it unreliable and very expensive, £25 for 100m!

Yes, it´s good stuff and cheap compared to some other brands. I also use the 4lbs for tippets on a furled leader or level for nymphs. It is ideal for dry fly. I use it since I started fly fishing 15 years ago. My mentor recommended it and whenever I used something else I quickly returned to stroft.
When loch fishing I prefer a stiffer leader material to prevent tangles.

I had an interesting experience recently when I used 4lb Stroft from the end of the fly line to the fly. About a 10 foot tippet. Casting was tricky but I got two trout. I'm currently experimenting with a level leader of Fox Illusion fluorocarbon 6lb bs. It's very stiff :-)
