A little set of brass scales turned up yesterday. Un-named except the letters GEN above the zero to five graduations.
Lovely little thing, shown along side a biro for scale.
Possibly not one to use. But could make a cracking keyring.

What measure do they weigh (gonk scales perhaps)?

Hi Steve, nice little scale mate, is there a military crow foot stamped on it anywhere. They were issued with some machine guns to set the trigger pull and wondered if it was one of those.

Interesting. Thanks chaps. The pull didn't seem to be 5 oz nor 5lbs so perhaps trigger pull pressure?

I've got a set identical to those, complete with the knurled rings top and bottom. They go up to 4lbs, but in sourcing them I found many go far higher and there are even Kgs ones out there. Strange that they aren't named.......

No "crows foot" Wal. The only other marking is the number 16 stamped close to the base.
I will have a play tomorrow to see what weight they actually pull.

The GEN could be a makers name I suppose although most of these little scales were made by Salter in the uk, it could of course be from another country. I bought a little tubular brass container at a bootfair recently which has a stemmed spoon inside attached to the screw lid. On the base it had the WD(arrow) mark and letters. Both I and the stall holder had no idea what it was for but I discovered later that it was an oiler that fitted into the swivel butt of an Enfield.303 rifle. The letters on the base referred to the makers name.
