An important piece of angling history
I am looking after a rather special piece of angling history at the moment. Can anyone guess why this landing net is so important?

This is the face and the same frame and same mesh that netted 'The Bishop' for Chris Yates at Redmire. John Carver to-day with his net that netted the U.K.'s first 50lb plus carp.

It's the photo playing tricks. I'll measure it tomorrow but it only looks normal sort of size. It is in retirement now - just like John. Finally got his bus pass!

i was kidding! fair play, if it wasn't for john and that net there's a good chance that Mr Y may have lost the fish, and non of this would be happening!!(or would it!!).Shaun Harrison wrote:It's the photo playing tricks. Re: An important piece of angling history
I guess many on here will feel it a shame that 'The Bishop' wasn't netted in one of John's other nets (John still enjoys using the wooden rods he used whilst controlling Redmire and still makes his annual pilgrimage with Jack's son Keith Hilton).
It's a little late now so I will hold some pictures back for tomorrow of a lovely net along with several other bits and bobs. But, only if I get the time whilst people refrain from ordering bait. I hope I get no time
