my creel. the indispensable item

Post by St.John »

My creel. Along with my wizard, match aerial and and 'wye barbel (that was once a twelve foot, double handed salmon rod), my creel will be with me every fishing trip I take. It is like the tardis. Two maggot boxed, weights, terminal tackle wallet, scales, flask of tea, various assortment of vintage fishing and tobacco tins, shot, floats stuck in fishing line loops to hold them to the lid, an extra centerpin or two, catapult, and all the other junk gets swallowed into this deceptive little wicker basket. It's a source of amazement to friends, and an invaluable tool in my fishing. Wouldn't be without it.

Wonderful, I was fishing Little Redmire with Bill Livingstone a while back and he had a creel, since then I have vowed to purchase one for my own fishing. definitely at the top of my list.

I just love that creaking sound when you open the lid. Like you say st.john I wouldn't be without it.

That creel of bills was once mine. I gave it to him as a thankyou for a really good week at redmire. Then took him barbel fishing on the wye. The river was up and Bill slipped in up to his neck with a cry of ' oh, oh, buggar!' Now I know what Hugh Grant would sound like falling in the wye....... Hoo ha!

I know someone who used to be a film wardrobe assistant and worked with Hugh Grant. Apparently in the wardrobe world he is known as Huge Grant :o !
