Off the Scale,

Post by Poacher » Thu Jan 29, 2015 11:53 am

The following new online magazine may be of interest to some although not focused on traditional Angling.

The first issue of the Irish publication is free to view, “Off the Scale” should be available online soon . :Hat:

Off the Scale,
Casting a new eye on angling

At Off the Scale, we seem to think of angling differently to most.

We wish to encourage and embrace a more open-minded view of our beloved past time. One where anglers and fish are not simply stereotyped and conform to specific disciplines. One where we realise that all anglers are, basically, the same, that we all fish for the same fundamental reasons, be it to escape reality, relax, or enjoy nature.

as anglers we all need to ensure that fish, and their environment’s, are afforded greater appreciation, respect and protection. Not just for our benefit but for the next generation, and all future generations of budding anglers and nature lovers.
So please, join us on our journey as we seek to challenge the angling status quo. Dare to question, dare to explore new frontiers and dare to think outside the angling box… But, most of all, enjoy it!

I tried to access Issue 1 from the website but it requires a password (no way of creating one) and is on an unsecured link to their server. Work in progress ?

The link worked fine here, not a bad magazine, at least it's not all modern stuff, just basic long standing angling methods.

Latest issue features, The spread of roach in Ireland

"The first documented introduction of roach in Ireland occurred in 1889 on Munster’s River Blackwater... although it took some decades (around 1940-50) for the species to become widespread upstream" ©Off the Scale magazine

If you want up to date information on fishing in Ireland go to the "Fishing In Ireland" site which has sections on all types of fishing.
