In my case the first fishing book I owned was 'Fishing' by George Clifford. With hindsight it was not the greatest book but it did contain some useful information and as a nine-year old it captured my imagination and fired my enthusiasm. I remember learning all the then current British record weights listed, together with the venue and captors' names.

I still have it.

I read books before this but they all belonged to my Dad
This brings back some good memories. I had this and I’m always going on about to my wife to this day. I’d love to get another copy.
Fish come and go, but it is the memory of afternoons on the stream that endure

My first real fishing book was Mr Crabtree and this sat alongside my Observers book of Birds eggs. These two books I still have copies of, and each time I open them I am transported back to care free days without the problems that growing up brings.
