The perfect hook -

“the temper of an angel and the penetration of a prophet; fine enough to be invisible: and strong enough to kill a bull in a ten acre field.”

Judging by the semi literate rubbish in this week's Anglers' Mail I am not confident we have a new Gierach, Ransome, Yates or Lord Grey in our midst just yet - I would shoot the person who first came up with the usage of a certain water having DONE a fish of a notable weight. But I am an old fart ...
Could you just wing them a bit so that I can draw, hang, draw and quarter them..... I detest that phrase.

Well I'm a grumpy old fart ..... Here's a few terms/phrases I detest, slabs, silvers (ignorant of the fish they catch?) Folk that say cruz instead of Crucians, bagging up or bagging machine.......

Recently came across this little gem from the wonder works of H.T. Sheringham,

"But there is a thing about floats which I have noticed sorrowfully, and cannot explain. The one which looks the nicest, sits best in the water and reveals most bites, always is to be found on the line of the other man. To comprehend this one must, I fancy, plumb deeper depths than those of angling."

I would rather be sitting at the lakeside fishing and thinking about God, than sitting in church thinking about fishing.

The way to a Game Fishermans heart is through his Flies.

My favourite quote, though not really to do with fishing, but is often quite relevant...

I hear loads of experts, but I do not see many! :Hat:

Expert (pronounced ex-spurt)

ex means past-it, and spurt is a drip under pressure :eyebrow:

Round, 400 yards across and treeless - certainly not Redmire.
