Country Fair Magazine 2'6d
Entitled "The Monthly Journal Of The Open Air" Country Fair was all about the countryside. Edited by MacDonald Hastings with A.G. Street. As I have acquired a stack of these old journals I thought I might post some of the articles on TFF for the members interest. This article is from the April 1958 monthly issue. Other articles are by BB, Collin Willock, Negley Farson and many more old favourites.

The good angler is not the one with expensive equipment. Common sense, observation and trying to realize
what is happening above and below water will catch fish no matter what price equipment you fish with.

Great picture that one, true art. Hope the fish isn't being returned mind you.
I can't recall him advising the use of sliced potatoes? We occasionally turned up with a "parboiled" hurling out in part-parody, of course catching nothing. Different times for sure, though whether they were better? Many folk wouldn't have got anywhere near Redmire, the Wye or Ellingham Bridge.

What wonderful articles. I enjoyed the Negley Farson one particularly. There are many gems in those old magazines, written in the manner of the time and without a hint of the modern brashness that has ruined my enjoyment of anything current.
Thanks for posting them Stour Otter

Thanks for posting these articles John. Very enjoyable reading and would make a nice little book if enough of them were found.
