Angling - Jonathan Webb's practical guide

Post by MGs »

Not really a book, as much as a folder. I have never found anyone who has had a copy or even read or seen it. Perhaps this is the place for fellow fans. A search on tinterweb has shown that it is available second had through Amazon and other sites, at prices from £3 to £30

I received this in 1970 as a Christmas present, priced at 15s.

Made up of 5 sections
Fish illustrations, descriptions tactics etc
Preparing baits
How to catch fish
Profiles of 8 British anglers (Peter Anderson, David Corke, William Howes, Billy Lane, Hugh Stoker, Peter Stone, Bernard Venables and Richard Walker)
How to cook the fish you catch (interesting)

This for a long time was my fishing bible. So much so that the outer folder is now somewhat tatty, although the perch illustration on the front is still bright and clear....happy days

Happy reading.

The fish illustrations are lovely.
The bait section is pretty basic, the maggot hooking technique is not up to modern standards!
The tactics although a bit out dated are informative (this fold out is a bit unwieldy)
The eight anglers section contains brief biographical details.
Some of the recipes might raise the odd eyebrow
