Perch, the biggest fish of all, ,,,,,,, twice!

Post by Leveller »

Hello chaps and fellow perchers'.
I posted on the canal section on, I think the 18th sept, about my new PB perch 2lb5oz,

Now I've grown up with stories of " before the perch disease we used to catch big perch here and there and this weight and that, " and I've always been envious, because the only perch I've ever caught all my angling life have been about three inches long, all genuinely welcome, vibrant and fearless,
Last year I found a canal where I caught my biggest at 1lb 8oz "I think" and I was up and running, it's taken me years to get past the half pound bracket!
20th September .
So now I'm beaming because of my latest canal capture , I decided to have a little trotting session on the river dove, just to use up the maggots, then the float vanishes and an EPIC fight with a fish using all the fast glides to its advantage, I saw it was a perch and I was scared to death, I knew I had to net and photo this fish because nobody would believe me, I worried about the 18s hook and the two pound line and all the snags the fish was ploughing through!
Eventually eventually slowly the net swallowed the perch, I burst out laughing ,
The hook was almost straight but was difficult to remove, and the weight,,,,,, 2lb 8oz!!

My two biggest perch, happy days, but what on earth is going on?

Cracking stripeys......hope I can get one soon of that size :Thumb:
Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish
