Blimey, I bet that one can eat a few crayfish. Makes me wonder what is lurking in lakes where folk are not interested in catching them.

The perch record was supposed broken by the owner of a fishery near me but the only witness was his wife so he couldn't claim it!

Hmmm.....with a podgy belly like that it must be a stillwater perch, probably from a commercial fishery. It's an impressive specimen but I prefer my perch to look like perch; same reason I don't see the attraction of those obese carp that don't look like fish. Still, a record is a record.

Fantastic perch- but they can grow bigger - there is a photo lurking some where on the web of an 8lb+ perch caught somewhere else in Europe, so there may yet be bigger perch lurking in our waters.........

Right I am having a Perch trip in the next couple of weeks.

I'm sure I'll manage a 4 (ouncer that is!!)
