A photo I dug out.....

Post by The Sweetcorn Kid »

I caught a big tench last year from the moat, but I never had scales with me so could weigh what was obviously the largest tench I'd ever caught.

Up till now I've tried to judge it from the mat shot I posted, but I've revisited the album and found this self take photo of me holding it up.

I still can't fathom out just how much it might have weighed, but know it's an impressive looking chunk. Thought I'd share it with you chaps...

No..........its at least 3 lb 2ozs

Seriously though , I would guess its a 7 lb er.
Its length in inches would be a help to estimate the weight.

Hard to tell from the scale, with the fish away from your body. Looking at it, I'd say 7 or 8lb. Nice old warrior whatever the size

I'm at work right now, but anyone at home might be able to work out the length if they have a Mark IV to hand??? Mitchell 300 is actually a tad smaller than its tail!!

Stu I feel the tenchion building. In future you should pay more attenchion to detail and carry your scales. Could be attenchion deficit or just your age. A little exercise will help the blood flow to your brain, extenchion of your arms swung vigorously will help with memory retenchion. Perhaps a little pretenchious of me to mention this but I hope this won't create any tenchion between us.

Phew! That's me all punned out :eyebrow:

Seriously for what it's worth at a guess upper 6 low 7 :Hat:

If I remember rightly Stu your net is 18" across so I would say at a rough guess that puts your tench at around 19-19.5" in length.

Whatever the weight it's a cracking tench!
