Marvellous ... Intrepid Elite reel .. 11 ft. 2 piece rod (Aspindale ?) ... and Mr. Venables (no-one pronounces 'fishh' quite as he does ! ... even years later in APFA.)
I love the commentary "An hour has past, and the fish haven't come on yet. That's the way with tench. But Fred, who is a tench fisherman, isn't in the least bit worried. it's a lovely day, and this combination of peace and tranquillity with the constant expectancy is the character of the fishing which appeals to him."
Sums it all up really, doesn't it ?

"Beside the water I discovered (or maybe rediscovered) the quiet. The sort of quiet that allows one to be woven into the tapestry of nature instead of merely standing next to it." Estaban.

Lovely writing too - such a change from the boring semi-literate stodge of our angling press.

Taunton - Bridgewater canal isn't it? Lovely old film that I viewed a while back, they don't make them like that any more.
